Return of the Channel Cat

Just in time for the beginning of summer, the Channel Cat Water Taxi will open for the season. For the 24th year, the signature blue boats will travel between Moline, Bettendorf, and Davenport, across the Mississippi River, starting Friday.

With summer about to start, the Channel Cat water taxi is preparing for another season. It will begin taking passengers Friday between Moline, Bettendorf, and Davenport.

After decades of doing business in the Village of East Davenport, Isabel Bloom will move this Fall. The company announced Tuesday it will consolidate its retail showroom and mold-making operation with production in Davenport's former Harborview building.

Donna Young, Bloom co-owner and sculptor, says for years, she and the other owners searched for one site for sales, tours, and production. 

Pierce School Lofts

An old school in Davenport has been re-born. A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the completion of the 3 year project, costing 7.2 million dollars, that transformed the Pierce School in the east village into apartments.

Quad Cities Criterium

A long weekend of bike racing is underway in eastern Iowa. 

Renters in the Quad Cities are eager for an old school to be renovated into apartments. A couple of developers are working together on the project -- the old Pierce school in the Village of East Davenport.

Shops in the Quad Cities are all set for tomorrow's (sat) fourth annual Small Business Saturday. Several businesses in the Village of East Davenport will participate in the shopping holiday by offering gifts and discounts for customers. Begun four years ago, Small Business Saturday is a national effort to promote small business during the holidays. Tammy Grady, the owner of Freddy's Fritters Dog Bakery, says she's seen an increase in customers each year on Small Business Saturday and that the annual event is one of the most successful days of the year in the East Village.
