The effort to save the University of Iowa's Labor Center comes to the Quad Cities Wednesday night. Unions and their supporters will hold a public hearing, as they try to reverse the university's decision to close the 67 year old center.

A former congressman who represented the Quad Cities for most of his 30 years in Washington will visit Augustana College Thursday. Jim Leach will give this year's Ellwood F. Curtis Family Lecture in Public Affairs, "What is Precedented and Un-precedented in American Politics."


It may not feel like it but spring must be coming soon. That's because the Quad City River Bandits have arrived at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport to prepare for the new Midwest League season. 

A woman who grew up in the Quad Cities will be the next leader of Renew Moline, the public-private partnership that promotes development in the city. Alexandra Elias will take over June lst, and replace Janet Mathis who resigned last year.

A group of University of Iowa students is waiting to find out if its status as a registered student group will be restored while a lawsuit plays out in federal court.

As art from the University of Iowa tours Europe, the leadership at the art museum in Iowa City has changed. More than eight years after the Iowa River flooded the old art museum, former Congressman Jim Leach is serving as Interim Director.  Michelle O'Neill reports that former UIMA Director, Sean O'Harrow, can't think of a better person to be at the helm, as the university begins the process of building a new art museum.

This week, Monmouth College students will learn what working class Romans, Dubliners, and Midwesterners have in common. Tomorrow, University of Iowa Professor, Sarah Bond, and Tom Keegan, from the university's Digital Scholarship and Publishing Studio, will present "The Local: Mapping Real and Imagined Taverns, Pubs, and Breweries from Antiquity to Modernity."
