Spring break will start one week early, and last one week longer than planned, for students at Augustana College. Friday President Steve Bahls announced in a message to students that in response to concerns about COVID-19, they'll be sent home this weekend.

Hundreds Participate in Augie Climate Strike

Around 400 students and staff gathered at Augustana College for a climate strike on Friday in solidarity with climate strikes going on worldwide.

History was made Wednesday in Washington D.C., and Augustana College President Steve Bahls was there to see it. He was the guest of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos when the leader of NATO addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time.

Augustana College has kicked off the second phase of its latest, major fundraising campaign. The goal is 125 million dollars, and Thursday students, staff, alumni, and donors gathered to celebrate the public phase of "Augustana Now: A Campaign for Success in the World, for the World."

Hoping to protect some of its students, Augustana College is joining with other colleges across the country. They're going to ask federal courts to block the Trump Administration from revoking the DACA program.

"Like our nation as a whole, Augustana is made better by the contributions of immigrants." That's the message to the college from President Steve Bahls following the Trump Administration's order on Friday suspending all immigration from 7 countries for several months.

A graduate of Augustana College, and former corporate executive, has died. Brenda Barnes was 63 years old when she died on Tuesday.
