Tuesday, February 18th is the last day to register to vote in Illinois.

It should be easy to vote early in the Illinois primary election for residents of Rock Island County.

Just in time for October which is Family History Month, the Rock Island County Clerk's office has expanded its services for genealogists. Indexes of births, marriages, and deaths can now be searched online.

A retired executive from John Deere has taken on a major challenge. Republican Russell Christ announced Wednesday he's running for Rock Island County Clerk, and will face Democratic incumbent Karen Kinney next year.

A couple from East Moline is ready to get married, and they have a photo to prove it. Wednesday morning, Albert Gardner and Kathleen Hunter were the first to take advantage of the Rock Island County Clerk's new, marriage license "selfie station." 

John Brown Retires

A long career in local government and supervising elections is about to end. Wednesday Rock Island County Chief Deputy Clerk John Brown announced his retirement, effective on Friday.

State and federal authorities are trying to find out why 1,500 absentee ballot applications were left in a Rock Island post office box for three weeks. Michelle O'Neill reports.

Local authorities, the Illinois attorney general, and the Post Office are all investigating the discovery in the Rock Island Post Office of more than 1,500 applications for absentee ballots. They were discovered in a post office box last week, less than two weeks before election day.
