Rock Island County leaders are looking for ways to save money as they prepare next year's budget. 

The proposed sale of the county nursing home tops the agenda for Tuesday night's meeting of the Rock Island County Board. Infinity Health Care has offered four million dollars for the Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.

The proposed sale of the Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline has fallen through. Thursday night members of the Rock Island County board voted 15 to 8 to reject a revised offer from Aperion Care.

Candidates for offices in Rock Island County will be chosen Tuesday during the Illinois primary election. Polls will be open from 6 am until 7 pm.

After months of discussion, the Rock Island County Board may finally be ready to sell Hope Creek. It'll hold a special meeting Tuesday night to vote on the sale of the county nursing home in East Moline. 


Rock Island County now has an official offer to buy the courthouse. Tuesday night, local real estate developer Joe Lemon presented his offer to the county board - for 500,000 dollars, with a commitment to invest 8 million to renovate and restore the 124-year old building.


Opponents of raising property taxes turned out in force Tuesday night to tell the Rock Island County board "no." Ahead of a vote on next year's tax levy, they urged board members to find other alternatives to raising taxes.

People who want to save the Rock Island County courthouse are offering free beer to anyone who can change their minds. The historic building in the Quad Cities could be demolished depending on a lawsuit.

Michelle O'Neill reports this morning in downtown Rock Island and later in downtown Moline, two advocates for saving the 120-year-old building started a campaign called, "Change My Mind."

An Interim State's Attorney may soon be appointed for Rock Island County. Tuesday County Board Chairman Richard Brunk announced his choice of Dora Villarreal to replace John McGehee who started working as a circuit judge last month.
