Despite the shortened season, owners of the Quad City Storm are pleased with the team's performance. Friday they announced a two-year contract extension for head coach Dave Pszenczny.

The Quad City Storm are helping people affected by cancer honor their loved ones. For the second year, the team is hosting "Paint the Ice," a chance for local residents to paint the names of others who have fought cancer on the ice at the TaxSlayer Center.

QC Storm Paints Ice to Honor Military

The Quad City Storm are honoring veterans in a unique way. On Tuesday, the team invited people to come to the TaxSlayer Center in Moline and write the names on the ice of friends and family who have served in the military.

The new season opens this weekend for the Quad City Storm. The team will play at Peoria Saturday night, then play their first home games next weekend.

Hockey will return to the Quad Cities in the fall. Tuesday the Quad City Storm released the schedule for their second season in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
