For the 43rd year, a wide range of artists will perform for local residents. Monday is the kickoff for Quad City Arts' Visiting Artist Series.

Margot Day, from Quad City Arts, says between now and next spring the series will feature nine, one and two week residencies, including musical ensembles, tap dancers, a jazz pianist, and a singer-songwriter.

This week, the first visiting artist of the new season will be Paige Hernandez. Day says she calls herself a "theater artist" because her inter-active performances include poetry, dance, and song.

Her public performance will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at the Nighswander Theater in Davenport.

A show this weekend will feature two stars: a Quad City Arts Visiting Artist and the stories she tells through drama, speech, and song. Maggie Brown has spent the last couple of weeks performing at schools and senior centers, presenting her one-woman show, "Legacy: Our Wealth of Music."

Ensemble Espanol

School children, service club members, and other local residents are learning this week about the dance and music of Spain. The Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater has come to the Quad Cities as part of this year's Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Program.
