Orpheum Theater

The Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg will host a series of documentary films during the first part of the year. Executive Director Erin Glasnovich said the theatre has shown documentaries in the past but never week-after-week as part of a series.

"This American Life" host Ira Glass will appear at the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg this Saturday. 

Glass' talk, "Seven Things I've Learned," starts at 7:30 p.m. "This American Life" reaches more than 2.2 million people every week on more than 500 public radio stations across the U.S., including WCBU. Another 2.5 million download the podcast every week. 

Glass began his career at NPR in 1978. He's hosted "This American Life" since 1995. 

After conducting a national search, Quad City Arts ended up choosing someone from Galesburg to be the next executive director. Last week, it announced the hiring of Kevin Maynard, now the executive director of the Orpheum Theater.
