Some residents of Moline are being warned to prepare for possible flooding. Ice jams in the Rock River near the I-74 bridge are causing the level of the river to rise. 

John Hitchcock, who has worked for the Moline Police Department for 26 years, will be sworn in as Police Chief on Tuesday night.

Moline School District

Work will begin soon on a major renovation and addition at Moline High School. Tuesday afternoon a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Bartlett Performing Arts Center.

Moline Fire Department

A long-time member of the Moline Fire Department will probably be its next chief. On Friday City Administrator Douglas Maxeiner announced his choice of Jeff Snyder, subject to confirmation by the city council.

Someone has brightened the holiday season for the Salvation Army. Thursday a Liberty gold coin was dropped in a red kettle at the Moline Walmart store. 

Church's Plans for the Kone Building

A multi-campus church in the Quad Cities is expanding again.  After buying the former Kone building in downtown Moline last summer, Heritage Church has announced its plans for the 117,000 square foot building.

Some home and business owners in Moline have received an early present from the city. Following a decision in October by the city council that they were no longer needed, utility deposits have been refunded to more than 2,000 accounts.
