Mike Matson

The totals are slightly different, but the overall results are the same, after a recount of votes from last week's mayoral primary election in Davenport. Tuesday a hand recount of the ballots ended, advancing Mike Matson and Rita Rawson to the general election next month.

The next mayor of Davenport will be a current member of the city council. In Tuesday’s primary, the two, top vote-getters were Mike Matson from the 7th Ward, and Rita Rawson who represents the 5th Ward. They’ll advance to the general election ballot on November 5th. And one will replace Frank Klipsch who did not run for re-election.

Davenport voters will have a lot of choices on Tuesday in the city primary election, and not just for mayor. Several candidates are running for each of three seats on the city council.
