National Cemetery

Even though the annual Memorial Day ceremony will not be held, the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island will be open this weekend. It will be open for visitors from 8 am until 8 pm Saturday through Monday. 

Blood Center Needs Donors

As summer begins, the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has issued its annual plea for donations.

Scott County Historical Society

A holiday tradition in Scott County will be observed for the 100th time on Monday. The annual service at the Summit Church, north of Davenport, is one of the oldest, continuous Memorial Day observances west of the Mississippi River.

This weekend, a church in Moline will honor four of its members who were killed in action during World War II and Korea. 

Three Generations Of Veterans Take Off On Honor Flight

Three generations of veterans took off on the Quad Cities 36th Honor Flight to Washington D.C. last week.

The World War Two, Korea and Vietnam vets spent the day visiting the war memorials that honor their service.

Leading up to Memorial Day weekend, 98 veterans took off for the Quad Cities' 36th Honor Flight to visit war memorials in Washington D.C. and pay respect to their fallen comrades.  

Rock Island National Cemetery

Volunteers will help the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island prepare for Memorial Day. Thursday afternoon, local residents will help cemetery staff put out 32,000 flags.
