In Rock Island County, about 80% of deaths related to COVID-19 are people who lived in long term care centers (red pie chart).

Scott County is reporting its first outbreak of COVID-19 at a nursing home.

The county health department says the 14 cases are among residents and staff of Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf. 

More people are caring for a loved one at home as the COVID-19 pandemic leaves them unemployed or apprehensive about care facilities.

A dental hygienist in the Quad Cities is helping people in nursing homes take care of their teeth. Linda Rowe works for a private company called, Hylife. Its founder wrote Dying from Dirty Teeth: Why the Lack of Proper Oral Care Is Killing Nursing Home Residents and How to Prevent It.
