Past champions Zach Johnson and Jordan Spieth are ready to compete this week at the 45th annual John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities. The golfers spoke to reporters today in Silvis at TPC Deere Run before tomorrow's pro-am.

John Deere will continue to sponsor the annual professional golf tournament in the Quad Cities. This morning at world headquarters in Moline, the company and PGA announced a seven year extension that will take the John Deere Classic through 2023.

 Actor and comedian Bill Murray will pack up his clubs and travel to the Quad Cities next week. He'll play in the John Deere Classic pro-am on Wednesday morning, with D.A. Points, at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis.

Three college golfers, and one amateur, will have a chance to compete against the pros next month.  Wednesday, the John Deere Classic awarded four sponsor exemptions to some of the nation's top young golfers, so they can play in this year's tournament. One is Bryson DeChambeau, from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

  The countdown has officially begun for the John Deere Classic, which will be held the first full week of next month. Monday morning, the tournament hosted media day for reporters, photographers, and others to learn about what's new this year.

After winning his first PGA tournament at the John Deere Classic, Brian Harman finally feels like he belongs among the pros. Monday morning, the defending champion talked about life on the road and the perks of winning, for Media Day at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis. He says the John Deere Classic will always be one of his favorites. 

Harman is the 20th golfer to win a PGA title for the first time at the Classic. The 28-year-old newly-wed from Georgia says being away from home has been hard, but he loves the work.

Every year, dozens of companies invite clients and customers to socialize and schmooze during the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities. And the tournament works hard to provide a range of options for companies of all sizes.

Nonprofits and other agencies are busy asking people to learn one golf term, even if they're not fans. This morning at Deere & Co. World Headquarters, the John Deere Classic kicked off the 2015 Birdies for Charity program. Each year, people pledge to donate to nearly 500 charities in northwestern Illinois and eastern Iowa. Most base the amount they give on the number of birdies golfers score during the annual PGA tournament in Silvis.

Thanks to the skill of the professional golfers, and generosity of contributors, local charities will have a lot of new money to spend in the coming year.
