Thousands of workers in Illinois should earn a "livable wage," not a minimum wage. That was the message today at news conferences in the Quad Cities and around the state, organized by the Raise Illinois coalition, on the eve of the General Assembly's veto session.

Jim Wozniak has decided to gamble "big" on the fall election. Today the candidate for the Illinois House announced he's resigning from his job as an assistant state's attorney in Rock Island County. He's running as a republican in District 71 which is now represented by democrat Mike Smiddy of Hillsdale.Wozniak says he gave his two week notice to the state's attorney's office to show he's 100 per cent committed to going to Springfield. The 71st district includes parts of Rock Island, Henry, Carroll, and Whiteside counties.
