Police, sheriffs deputies, and other first responders will honor Hampton Police Chief Terry Engle on Thursday. They'll hold a procession of their vehicles past the Moline funeral home where his service will be held.

Several police officers are being sued in federal court following their arrest of a black college student traveling through the Quad Cities last year. Jaylan Butler filed the suit in federal court last month, accusing the officers of participating in unlawful conduct or failing to stop the other officers from engaging in unlawful conduct.  

Zion Lutheran Church

Inspired by the response of fellow Lutherans to a tornado last year in the Quad Cities, a church in Hampton will host a day of disaster training on Saturday. 

Hampton Chicken Fry Record Turnout

A local Labor Day event had a record turn-out this year after a visit from a presidential candidate. Today, almost 5,000 people came to see Hillary Clinton and other democratic political leaders at the 48th annual Salute to Labor chicken fry in Hampton, Illinois. The labor day picnic and parade, organized by the Rock Island County Democratic Party, normally expects between 1,600 to 1,800 people.
