Davenport Public Library

Davenport voters have an opportunity to hear from candidates running for city office. The first city candidate forum will be held Tuesday night at the downtown Davenport Public Library. Six mayoral candidates, as well as 17 people running for alderman, have been invited and plan to attend.

Tonight, the Davenport City Council will consider hiring an architect to design renovations for the Main Library downtown. A master plan was completed in January, and now it's ready to move on to the "next phase" of the project.

All your favorite local artists will soon be on one streaming platform. This Friday, "QC Beats" will launch with a kickoff party at the River Music Experience in Davenport, featuring several of the musicians. 

The C-SPAN Bus is making its annual tour of the Untied States, and it stopped in the Quad Cities today Wednesday. The Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network wants to educate Americans about the educational and political resources it offers.

A Quad Cities librarian wants to know how to tell the difference between real news and fake news. And Amy Groskopf, Davenport Library Director, wants people to learn the same thing.

On Monday night at 6:30, the library will host, "The Rise of Fake News." Michelle O'Neill reports it'll be a panel discussion at the Eastern Avenue Branch.


Libraries have always helped people find accurate and recent information. But Amy Groskopf says the old publishing days are over, and digital access has changed the way we get information, and how fast.

Hundreds of students, parents, and other local residents gathered this morning to celebrate a program that's bringing together arts and education. The Davenport School District held a ribbon cutting and open house for its new Creative Arts Academy, at its hub at the Davenport Public Library.
