The Quad Cities River Bandits have a new leader.

The Quad Cities River Bandits’ charitable work has not gone unnoticed. On Thursday at Modern Woodmen Park, Ballpark Digest honored the team with its award for “Best Commitment to Charity.”

This week, the Quad Cities River Bandits announced solar panels have been placed on the roof of Modern Woodmen Park. It's the first municipally-owned building in Davenport that has a solar array on its rooftop. 

On Midwest Week, even though they didn't repeat as champions of the Midwest League, the Quad City River Bandits had a good season.

A third college has been added to a scholarship program offered by the Quad Cities River Bandits. Wednesday team officials announced the gift of $15,000 to the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.

When baseball season starts, fans at River Bandits games will have a brighter and safer view. New LED lights and in-field netting are being installed at Modern Woodman Park.

An Iowa State Senator now co-owns The Quad Cities River Bandits. On Thursday, the team's managing partner, Dave Heller, announced Roby Smith is replacing Bob Herrfeldt as co-owner of the minor league franchise.

More students in the Quad Cities will get some welcome help paying for college. Monday the Quad Cities River Bandits announced the addition of Saint Ambrose University to the Bandit Scholars Program.

It was a long and difficult season for the Quad Cities River Bandits this year.

When the new minor league baseball season opens next week, there will be two new teams at Modern Woodmen Park, one on the field, and one in the office. Tuesday, the Quad Cities River Bandits introduced nine  new staff members.
