Six months after it started, the Moline Police Social Work Project is going to expand, thanks to a generous local resident.

Last summer, the Center for Youth and Family Solutions began a pilot project with the Moline Police Department, embedding two social workers with officers, to help them handle people with mental health problems.

Just five months after it started, a program to help Moline police better handle people with mental health problems will expand. Wednesday the city announced the creation of a paid internship for a college student majoring in social work.

Twenty eight years after the body of a baby was found along the river in Moline, police believe they've solved the case. Thursday Chief Darren Gault announced the arrest of 47 year year old Angela Siebke of Whitehall Ohio, formerly of Orion, Illinois.

In April of 1992, the body of a female infant was discovered in a trash bag in the Mississippi River at 17th Street. No parents were found, she was named Baby April, and buried in Riverside Cemetery.

The Moline Police Department hopes a new partnership with a Peoria-based social service agency will help officers better handle people with mental health problems. This week, two social workers from the Center for Youth and Family Solutions started working at the department full-time.
