The Rock Island County Democratic Party is losing its leader. After eight years of serving as party chair, Doug House has decided not to run again. The democratic central committee will vote tomorrow on a replacement.
Two democrats and one republican have won election to the Scott County Board. Incumbent democrat Brinson Kinzer was the top vote-getter, followed by fellow democrat and newcomer Ken Croken. And they'll be joined by republican newcomer John Maxwell.
In one of Illinois' most expensive legislative races, Neil Anderson won re-election to the Illinois Senate. In District 36 which includes Rock Island, Henry, Whiteside, and Carroll counties, the incumbent republican from Andulusia ended with 51 per cent of the vote to 49 per cent for democrat Gregg Johnson from East Moline.
Former governor Tom Vilsack is touring Iowa this weekend, hoping to support fellow democrats on Tuesday's ballot. Friday afternoon, he and his wife Christie stopped at Scott County Democratic headquarters in Davenport to give a pep talk to the many young volunteers working hard during the final weekend before the election.
