An experienced candidate in southeast Iowa has decided to run again for Congress. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports Republican State Senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks from Ottumwa is running again for the Second District seat in the US House.

More than 1,000 people turned out in Davenport  Tuesday to see Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. It was standing room only at Lee Lohman Arena at Saint Ambrose University as the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana held a rally to end his four-day bus trip in Iowa.

Shift workers, those with disabilities, members of the military, and others will be able to participate in February's democratic caucuses, even if they're not in Iowa.

The Central Lee School District's attempt to pass a multi-million dollar bond referendum to fund facility improvements came up just short last fall, so the district will try again during a special election on Tuesday (September 10). The head of the district said this is the time to act to provide a better education for students for years to come.

Davenport voters have an opportunity to hear from candidates running for city office. The first city candidate forum will be held Tuesday night at the downtown Davenport Public Library. Six mayoral candidates, as well as 17 people running for alderman, have been invited and plan to attend.

Montana Governor Steve Bullock will campaign in eastern Iowa this weekend.

At least four Democratic presidential candidates will visit the Quad Cities this weekend. They're expected to attend the Rock Island County Democratic Party's 52nd Annual Labor Day Picnic on Monday.

A Bettendorf alderman has announced his bid for re-election. In March, Bill Connors won a special election to fill the 3rd Ward seat after the death of Alderwoman Debe LaMar. Now, he is trying to win his second election this calendar year.
