Democrats Choose Robinson

Democrats in eastern Iowa have chosen a woman from Clinton to run for the state senate. Monday night party leaders in District 49 chose Patti Robinson as their candidate in November for the seat now held by Rita Hart of Wheatland.

Some eastern Iowa Democrats will meet Monday night to choose their candidate for the state senate. Senate District 49 includes all of Clinton County, plus parts of eastern and northeastern Scott County.

Robinson for Iowa Senate

A case manager for the Salvation Army in Clinton has decided to run for the Iowa Senate. Tuesday Democrat Patti Robinson announced her candidacy for District 49 - that's the seat now held by Rita Hart of Wheatland, who's running instead for lieutenant governor.

Women did well in last month's Iowa primary election, but still have a long way to go to reach parity with men, holding state and local offices. 99 women were on the ballot, and 85 won and will advance to the general election.

During the 2016 general election, votes and voter information handled by county clerks in Illinois were safe and secure.

Michelle O'Neill reports that's the main finding from a survey of the clerks conducted last year by US Senator Dick Durbin and Illinois State Senator Michael Hastings.


With the Iowa primary less than three weeks away, there's help for residents of Clinton County who may not remember where to cast their ballots. The county is once again offering a free app called "WhereUVote."

With the Iowa primary less than a month away, all six democrats running for governor will debate in the Quad Cities this weekend. Co-sponsored by KWQC-tv and the Quad City Times, it'll be held on Sunday night in the studios of KWQC in Davenport.

Peters for Congress

A republican candidate for Congress will campaign in the Quad Cities and nearby cities this weekend. Christopher Peters from Coralville is challenging incumbent Second District democrat Dave Loebsack.
