this how Building 3 will look after the renovation project.

A 40 million dollar renovation project will begin soon at Black Hawk College in Moline.

Chief Financial Officer Steve Frommelt says Building 3 is more than 50 years old and needs major updates.

"Building 3 will become effectively a focus on our science programs. Then we'll be converting and transitioning Building 2, which was traditionally our science-oriented classes - those will become classrooms and career and technical education programs."

He says students will benefit from being able to learn in modern facilities.

In the future, Building 3 will also house athletic and fitness facilities, the campus police office, food pantry, and faculty offices.

Completion is expected in the summer of 2024.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
