MidAmerican Sends Crews to Help With Hurricane Recovery

MidAmerican Energy

Crews from MidAmerican Energy left Iowa Wednesday to help southern states recover from Hurricane Ian.

Spokeswoman Tina Hoffman says 79 volunteers from across the state are heading to Atlanta to help Georgia Power restore service to its customers.

"They'll go where they're needed and we're prepared to help with the restoration efforts. We certainly know first hand the damage that storms can do and how important it is to restore service as quickly and as safely as possible."

They'll be gone for up to two weeks.

Just a year ago, crews from MidAmerican worked in New Orleans to help restore power following Hurricane Ida.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
