A Wisconsin-based, family company is the new owner of Zimmerman Alfa Romeo-FIAT in Davenport. Last week, Van Horn Automotive Group announced it bought the dealership located on Research Parkway, near the intersection of I-80 and Highway 61.
Jon Bell is the new General Manager. He says the Van Horn family has ties to Iowa and the Quad Cities. The Van Horns' father grew up in Rock Island and graduated from St. Ambrose University, while their mother grew up in Moline and went to Marycrest.
Bell has already hired several of the seven employees who worked for Zimmerman. The company plans to expand at the six-acre Davenport dealership, starting with a staff of 15 and hiring another 15 as needed.
The Van Horn Automotive Group now has 17 businesses in Wisconsin and Iowa with more than 500 employees.
