WVIK will celebrate Dubuque Week Sept. 15-21

WVIK will celebrate Dubuque Week Sept. 15-21 with special broadcasts and events, including an appearance by Garrison Keillor of "A Prairie Home Companion."

Roald Tweet, writer and narrator of Rock Island Lines, will air five new episodes of his program that focus on the history of Dubuque. These can be heard at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, Sept. 15-19 at WVIK 90.3 FM and at 95.9 FM in Dubuque. These new episodes of Rock Island Lines during Dubuque week are sponsored by Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.

On Thursday, Sept. 18, WVIK staff will host a Wine Social at 5 p.m. L. May Eatery, at 1072 Main St., Dubuque. All are invited to come and meet the WVIK staff.

A Baroque Concert of organ music will be free to all at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Wartburg Theological Seminary. Dr. Larry Peterson, director of music and campus ministry at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., will perform.

To cap off the week, Garrison Keillor will appear at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the University of Dubuque. The longtime public radio personality will highlight the 2014-2015 Live at Heritage Center Performing Arts Series there.

Keillor has a new book out, The Keillor Reader, a collection from his decades as storyteller, writer and radio host. This summer he will celebrate the 40th anniversary of A Prairie Home Companion.
