Warren Town Hall in Davenport

WVIK News

With one month to go before the Iowa Caucuses, Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren spent the weekend in eastern Iowa, with stops in Manchester, Dubuque, Maquoketa, and Davenport.

At a rally in Davenport Sunday afternoon attended by several hundred people, Warren said the good news is she has the biggest anti-corruption plan since Watergate, but the bad news is we need the biggest anti-corruption plan since Watergate.

Her plan would start by ending lobbying "as we know it."

"You really want to hose out corruption in Washington ? Make everybody, everybody who runs for federal office put their tax returns online."

Warren compared gun violence now to decades ago when huge numbers of Americans died in car crashes each year. Safety modifications and public awareness campaigns reduced deaths by 80 per cent, and she committed to do the same for gun violence if elected - reduce deaths by 80 per cent.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
