Vaccinations have started for teachers and other staff of the Davenport School District. Tuesday through Thursday this week and Tuesday through Thursday next week, about 300 employees each day will receive the COVID vaccine.
District officials say it's important for all members of the community to be vaccinated, but in addition, Iowa has ordered schools to re-open for in-person learning later this month.
Superintendent T.J. Schneckloth says “The health of the families of the Quad-Cities is a top priority. And like all vaccine recipients, staff members will continue to wear masks, observe social distance, and wash their hands diligently.”
The Davenport district serves more than 14,000 students with 1,400 teachers and a total staff of 3,000.
