United Way Chooses New Leader

United Way

Next week, a new president and ceo will start working at the United Way. Wednesday the agency announced the hiring of Rene Gellerman.

Gellerman worked for the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce for 12 years. Most recently she served as Senior Vice President and led the effort to compile and implement the Q2030 Regional Action Plan. She's also worked for the Scott County Family Y and Illinois Congressman Lane Evans.

The United Way says it conducted a national search and received nearly 200 applications from the across the country.

Gellerman replaces Scott Crane who resigned last March after leading the Quad Cities United Way for 10 years.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
