Unemployment has fallen again in the Quad Cities. New figures from the state of Illinois show the rate fell from 7 per cent in September of last year, to 6.4 per cent last month.
Tom Austin from the Illinois Department of Employment Security says jobs were added in wholesale trade, leisure and hospitality, and transportation. But this area lost some jobs in manufacturing and government.
And he blames the same "seasonal" pattern for the slight increase in unemployment between August and September - the rate rose 2-tenths of one per cent.
Austin says the Quad Cities no longer has the lowest, or one of the lowest rates, in Illinois - other cities recorded much greater declines from a year ago, and now Bloomington, Champaign, Chicago, Springfield, and the East Saint Louis area have lower rates.
