UI Tippie Business College to Open Permanent Location

Tomorrow, business students and professors will celebrate their new location in the Quad Cities. Tomorrow, the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business will hold a dedication and ribbon cutting at the new building on 53rd Street in Davenport.

Dave Frasier is the Associate Dean of MBA Programs. He says classes for the Professional MBA program were moved in January. Computers in the three new classrooms are connected to the main campus network in Iowa City. And video-conferencing will start this spring in Davenport and other locations.
Around 150 students, plus faculty and staff, will also have access to five meeting rooms and a lounge on the first floor. Frasier says the University's business college has offered classes in the Quad Cities for 50 years.

It's the first time we'll have a dedicated facility in the Quad Cities, and we're really excited about it for the market.

In addition, Frasier says students will have another option.

Business analytics is one of the hottest areas in demand from companies, and the Tippie College has excellent faculty in that field. We'll offer it at all the sites where we offer the Professional MBA program.

The business analytics program will begin next fall in the Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines. Another initiative is what he calls "executive in open enrollment."

That involves customizing programs for companies. Leadership training is popular along with project management certification.

Tomorrow's ribbon cutting will be held at 5:30 pm, and will feature Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Dean Sarah Gardial. An open house begins at 4:00 p.m.
