Traffic Switch for I-74 Bridge Project

Credit Iowa & Illinois Depts. of Transportation

A small change in traffic for the I-74 Bridge project will affect a lot of local motorists. Friday night, a section of 19th Street in downtown Moline will be closed, until early Saturday morning.

Currently only northbound traffic is allowed on 19th Street, between 7th and 12th avenues, and that section will be closed from 8 o'clock Friday night to 5 am Saturday.

During the closure contractors will move barriers and re-stripe the lanes so starting Saturday morning, traffic will shift to the other side of 19th Street, and travel between some newly constructed bridge piers.

This section of 19th Street will still be closed to southbound traffic.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
