"Thanksgiving in July" Food Drive Returns

Churches United of the Quad City Area

Once again, it's "Thanksgiving in July". For the fourth year, Churches United of the Quad City Area is holding a summertime food drive.

Associate Director Betsy Vanausdeln says summer is a crucial time for families in need.

"I discovered it's hard for them to keep the food on the shelves during the summer time. And the reason why they have a hard time keeping food on the shelf is because the kids are home, they're eating more food and having more meals at home. So, its a strain on the family's budget."

Churches United oversees 26 food pantries and three meal sites on both sides of the Quad Cities.

The donations will be accepted through July 31st at three local Fareway stores, QC Core Chiropractic, K&K Hardware, Dewey's at the Bettendorf Library, Circa 21, CBI Bank and Trust and Caddy's Sports Bar and Grill. The Churches United offices are also taking donations in Davenport at 1605 Harrison Street and in Bettendorf at 2535 Tech Drive, Suite 205.
