'Talking Art' with Sarah Rehmer

The mixed media artist Sarah Rehmer’s solo exhibition A Tenuous Space is currently on display at the ArtSpace Gallery on the Black Hawk College campus in Moline.  Using vintage book paper, rusted paper, encaustic, oil paint, and eco-dyed fabric and paper, she explores the elusive aspects of memory, thought, and communication in ethereal works created over the past five years.

Listen to our conversation here about how she creates her work, the inspiration behind it, and her interest in the tenuous, delicate space in which remembered and forgotten words and thoughts exist.

The exhibit A Tenuous Space closes on November 1, 2019.  A reception with the artist Sarah Rehmer will be held on Thurs, Oct 31 from 3:30-5:30 PM with her talk beginning at 4 PM.  The ArtSpace Gallery is located on the first floor of Building 4 on the Black Hawk College campus at 6600 34th Avenue in Moline.  Parking is available by the welcome center in Building 1, and an enclosed walkway allows easy entry into Building 4 where the ArtSpace Gallery is located.

Carolyn Martin joined WVIK as a host of Talking Art in 2017. A long-time fan of NPR programming with a love of storytelling and all art forms, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with creative people who beautify our community and make the Quad Cities region an even better place to live.
