The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) will perform its joint Side-By-Side Concert with the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles (QCSYE) on Sunday, April 29, at 3:00 p.m. at the Adler Theatre in Davenport. Pleasant Valley senior Ethan Good, the grand prize winner of the 2018 QCSYE’s Concerto Competition, will play a solo, the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto, with the QCSO.

All five of the youth ensembles—the Youth Symphony Orchestra, Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Youth String Ensemble, Prelude Strings, and Youth Choir—will perform. Tickets can be purchased online, at the QCSO box office at 327 Brady St in Davenport, or by phone (563-322- 7276) Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Listen to our conversation here with Ethan Good about his musical background and other accomplishments, and also with Marc Zyla, Director of Education and Community Outreach for the QCSO, about the youth ensemble program.

Auditions for the five Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles for the 2018-2019 year will be held in May of 2018. Audition information and the registration form can be accessed here.

In addition, the 3rd annual Community Wide Side-By-Side performance will be held the night before, on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the River Center in Davenport at 7:00 p.m. This event is open to community members from all ages and all skill levels. The only requirement is that you be able to read music!
