Another candidate has entered the already crowded race for Rock Island County State's Attorney. Ron Stradt of Moline has joined three other Democrats, and two Republicans, competing for their party's nomination in the March primary election.
Stradt is currently a staff attorney for the Illinois Education Association, but early in his legal career served as an assistant State's Attorney in Rock Island County from 1997 to 1999.
"It's just an opportunity for me to prosecute cases. It's something I always enjoyed doing and I'd like the opportunity to do that as state's attorney."
Following his graduation from Moline High School, he served in the Marine Corps, then earned degrees at the University of Maryland and University of Illinois. Stradt received his law degree from Northern Illinois University.
Also in the race for the Democratic nomination are current State's Attorney Dora Villareal, Assistant State's Attorney Calvin Dane, and Herb Schultz who's in private practice. The Republicans are local attorneys Kathleen Bailey and Eric Reyes.
