A post office in western Illinois could soon have a new name. A bill to re-name it in honor of an Army captain killed in action in Afghanistan has been approved by both the House and Senate, and now goes to the president for his signature.

Sponsored by 17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, the bill would designate the post office in Alpha, in Henry County, the "Captain Joshua E. Steele Post Office."

Steele was 26 years old in June of 2007 when he was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. He had previously been deployed to Iraq and the Republic of Georgia. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He grew up on a farm in North Henderson, Illinois.
