Is the Spring Flood Over ?

National Weather Service

After cresting last weekend in the Quad Cities and Muscatine, the Mississippi River continues to fall.

The National Weather Service says the river measured two feet over flood stage Friday afternoon, after dropping one foot this week. And it's expected to continue falling, and reach flood stage by next Friday.

The river is also down one foot since cresting last weekend in Muscatine, at two feet over flood stage. It should reach flood stage there, also by next Friday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
