Spring Flood Outlook

WVIK Staff

Don't worry too much about flooding this spring. At least that's the first prediction from the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Tim Gross from the Davenport office, says the risk of flooding along the Mississippi River this spring is considered to be "below normal."
The risk is also considered below normal for the various tributaries in eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois - the Rock, Iowa, Cedar, and Wapsipinicon.

But Gross says rain in the coming weeks could change that forecast very quickly.

No indication yet on how much rain will fall here.

The long-range forecast, however, does predict below normal temperatures at least for March.

The next Spring Flood Outlook will be issued in two weeks (3/5).
