Six Finalists for Bettendorf Alderman

The Bettendorf city council is nearly ready to fill a vacant seat. Monday night, during a committee of the whole meeting, aldermen will interview six finalists to replace Gary Mohr who resigned his at-large seat after winning election to the Iowa House.

The six finalists are Steve Sorensen, Adam Holland, Lisa Brown, Kylah Rasche, Amy Jones, and Judy Gackle.

Originally, the city received 16 applications for the city council seat, aldermen ranked the top ten, and then cut the list to six.

The council plans to appoint the new alderman Tuesday night. He or she will serve the rest of Mohr's term which expires at the end of this year.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
