Section of the Old Bridge to be "Removed"

A very visible step in the multi-year project to build a new I-74 Bridge is scheduled to start later this week. Beginning Thursday night, through Monday in Moline, crews will "remove" the Iowa-bound I-74 viaduct.

Each night weather permitting, starting at 8:30 pm, through to 6 am the next morning, 7th Avenue will be closed from 19th to 23rd Street.

Westbound traffic in downtown Moline should use 4th Avenue, while eastbound drivers should use 6th Avenue.

The project should not affect eastbound traffic on I-74, including the on- and off-ramps.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
