School Elections Tuesday

Democracy Live

Polls will be open Tuesday in both the Davenport and Bettendorf school districts.

Davenport is asking permission to renew the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy that is now scheduled to expire in June. It raises money for a variety of building projects not covered by the district's general fund. And if approved it would increase from the current level of 97-cents to $1.34 per 1,000 dollars assessed value.

The Bettendorf School District is asking its residents to approve a 30 million dollar bond issue to pay for a long list of facility projects.

Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm - at two sites in Bettendorf, and eight for Davenport.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
