Schiffer Leaving Figge

The Figge Art Museum in Davenport will soon start looking for a new leader. Friday afternoon, it announced Executive Director and CEO Tim Schiffer has submitted his resignation, effective at the end of July.

He came to the Figge in 2012, and major accomplishments include the recent signing of a long-term funding agreement with the city, elimination of its debt, and a number of major exhibitions, including the French Moderns last Fall and the Tiffany exhibit now on display.

Cindy Carlson, President of the Board of Directors, says a national search will begin in the next month.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
