If one Democratic caucus in Davenport is any indication, Bernie Sanders has a good shot at his party's nomination for president. Monday night at Central High School in Davenport, Sanders was the winner with 45 people in his corner.
Close together but noticeably behind were Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden with 24 to 28 each - turnout in the precinct was 120.
The leader of the Sanders group was Nick Pearce.
"He wants to raise wages, tie the minimum wage to inflation, expand Social Security so everyone can live out their golden days in comfort, guarantee equal pay for equal work - something that my moms have strived for, for far too long, and put a dang good dent in the Green New Deal, to make sure this planet stays safe for everybody for years to come."
But his pledge to vote Democratic no matter who the eventual nominee is, drew loud applause from all the groups at his caucus site.
Some of those who turned out favored Andrew Yang, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer, but there were not enough to be viable - with at least 15 per cent of the attendees. They then had to pick a second choice, and mainly ended up in the Sanders and Buttigieg groups.
