Rock River Cresting

National Weather Service
the Rock River at Moline, Tuesday 6/12/18

Thanks to heavy rain upstream, there's flooding Tuesday along the Rock River.

The National Weather Service says the Rock crested Monday at Joslin nearly half a foot over flood stage - it's started to fall and should drop to flood stage by Tuesday afternoon and keep falling.

At Moline Tuesday, the river is at flood stage. It's expected to rise about two-tenths of a foot and crest Tuesday  afternoon, then begin to fall.

From Saturday to Monday, the Rock rose about four feet at Joslin, and about 2 1/2 feet at Moline.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
