Rock Island County Helps Residents Pay Rent

Rock Island Township

Residents of Rock Island County, who are struggling to make ends meet, could qualify for help from local government. Townships in the county are offering financial assistance for rent and mortgage payments.
Moline Township Supervisor, Don Johnston, says the townships received over 22-thousand-dollars for shelter assistance from FEMA. And, the townships will hand out up to 450-dollars for those who have had an emergency and can't make home payments.

He says Rock Island County residents can go to their local township and fill out an application. If accepted, the township will send money directly to the landlord or collector.
Johnston says Rock Island County Townships have been offering shelter assistance for 15 years. And, the money is granted on a first come, first serve basis.
