River Steady at One Foot Over Flood Stage

National Weather Service
mid-afternoon Friday in the Quad Cities

Minor flooding continues in the Quad Cities - Friday the Mississippi River is one foot above flood stage. It should hold near that level through the weekend, then begin to rise and by late next week reach two feet over flood stage.

And the forecast is similar in Muscatine - the river is one foot over flood stage, and after holding near that level, it should rise a foot and-a-half through late next week.

Downstream on Friday flooding is considered "moderate" at New Boston, Keithsburg, and Burlington.

On the Rock River meanwhile, after cresting earlier this week, the river is falling and should drop below flood stage at both Joslin and Moline by early next week.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
