The Quad Cities River Bandits and Houston Astros will continue working together. Tusday officials from both teams announced they'd signed a two-year extension of their current player development agreement.

It now runs through 2018.
Astros General Manager, Jeff Luhnow, says he's very happy with their Class-A affiliate, and the players it's been developing.

Luhnow says along with player development, the Astros like Modern Woodmen Park, strong attendance here that helps prepare their players for larger stadiums, and because they can find housing and host families for the players each season.

River Bandits owner, Dave Heller, says since their first agreement in 2013, the Astros have sent some of their top young players to the Quad Cities.

Our fans can say they saw Carlow Correa and others when they played here.

This is actually the second time the Astros have sent players to the Quad Cities - they first worked together with the local team from 1993 to 1998.

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
