Rising To Another High Crest

National Weather Service
Tuesday afternoon in the Quad Cities

Rain, in our area and upstream, is pushing up the level of the Mississippi River.

In the Quad Cities, the river has risen nearly 2 feet since Friday, to 3.4 feet over flood stage, and the latest forecast is for a crest at 6 feet over flood stage on Saturday.

At Muscatine, the river is about 4 1/2 feet over flood stage, and should go up 2 more feet to 6.8 feet over flood stage by the weekend.

The Rock River is also expected to rise another foot, and crest at around 2 feet over flood stage in Moline on Friday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
