RI Offers Free Holiday Marketing Campaign

Help is available for businesses in Rock Island hoping to bring in customers for holiday shopping. The city has opened a Holiday Marketing Campaign, and it's free.

Economic Development Manager Tarah Sipes says their goal is to help local businesses survive the pandemic, and reach a broader audience than they might have otherwise.

Using a website called Forward, businesses can list the hours and days they're open, and any special advertising materials.

"That we can then share on Facebook, and hopefully include that in some print, radio, and television spots that we intend to do. Since the holidays are rapidly approaching we are also planning to continue on into the new year."

The website is at forward.livestories.com/login, look for the resource called "Free Holiday Marketing Campaign," and click "apply."

Sipes says Rock Island is also using the Forward website to help businesses find out which disaster loans and grants they might be eligible for, to help pay COVID-related expenses.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
