Red Cross Sends Volunteer to Georgia

A volunteer from the Quad Cities will soon start helping victims of weekend severe storms and tornadoes that tore across the southern states.

The local chapter of the Red Cross says Sandra Keller will travel to Georgia to help with the disaster response - she is a trained mental health volunteer and will be a member of a Red Cross health services team.

She joined the Quad Cities chapter early last year, and this will be her first disaster deployment.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
