Hoping to better promote their city, government and business leaders in Muscatine have come up with a new logo and tagline.
City spokesman Kevin Jenison says the logo resembles stained glass, with blue panels in the center representing the river, and with green on both sides representing farmland. And the new tagline is "Where The River Takes A Turn For The Better."
"Muscatine was founded here because people thought this was where they'd have a better lifestyle. And we could use that to promote Muscatine into the future because this is one of those places where you can come and have your life take a turn for the better."
Jenison says companies and institutions in Muscatine can modify the tagline for their own use, for example, "Muscatine Community College - where education takes a turn for the better."
Comments are welcome at his office in city hall, or on the city's Facebook page.
"We like getting negative comments because then we can find out what we need to do to better explain our position, why we came up with this logo and tagline. And the more information we can get our there to the public, I think, the more readily it will be accepted."
He says partners in the re-branding effort included the city of Muscatine, chamber of commerce, convention and visitors bureau, Muscatine Community College, the school district, Muscatine Power and Water, and Unity Point-Trinity.
